Samantha McWeeney M.S., CCC-SLP is the owner of PrAACtical Communication Speech Therapy Clinic. We are currently accepting new clients! About us: PrAACtical Communication Speech Therapy Clinic specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Autism Spectrum Disorder. What is AAC Augmentative Alternative Communication. If you have found us, you’re likely supporting someone who struggles with communication, such as an autistic child who is not speaking, a spouse with ALS in the process of losing their use of speech, You may have even heard about augmentative and alternative communication, also known as AAC. AAC is a tool, strategy, support or any form of communication used in addition to or in place of the spoken word. AAC myths & truths Research shows that AAC can help a child speak or an adult regain speech. But there are many myths about AAC claiming the opposite. What is the PLAY Project Early Childhood Intervention: www.playproject.org to learn more. The P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) Project® is a parent implemented, intensive early intervention program for young children with autism that is evidence-based. Far too many children with autism, or traits of autism, are waiting for services. Early intervention can make a profound difference in the life course of these children because their brains are developing at an incredible rate before the age of 7. Children, including children with autism, learn best through play. The secret is knowing how to engage the child in a playful way that promotes his or her development. The PLAY Project is delivered by parents who have been trained by PLAY Project Consultants, using their relationship and knowledge of their child to promote engagement. Ages: We offer services to individuals across the lifespan (0-100+). Insurance: We are in Network with Regence BCBS and take most private insurance. Location: Our clinic is unique in Central Kitsap for providing pediatric home health services and or tella-health for those outside of our direct service area (Central Kitsap).
